The Texas Neurodiagnostics Initiative is an independent, statewide effort advancing formal state recognition for neurodiagnostic professionals in Texas, grounded in patient safety, workforce protection, and healthcare system alignment.
Across hospitals, clinics, intensive care units, epilepsy programs, sleep centers, and operating rooms, neurodiagnostic professionals perform specialized testing and monitoring that physicians rely on to evaluate neurological function, support diagnosis, guide treatment, and protect patients during care.
This workforce spans EEG, epilepsy and long-term monitoring, intraoperative neuromonitoring, evoked potentials, sleep technology and polysomnography, nerve conduction studies, autonomic testing, magnetoencephalography, and related areas of clinical neurophysiology.
In healthcare, formal state recognition through licensure is often one of the clearest foundations for professional recognition, accountability, and long-term workforce stability.
Texas has the scale, clinical depth, and healthcare influence to lead on this issue. With major academic medical centers, hospital systems, specialty programs, and surgical centers across the state, Texas is well positioned to help define a stronger path forward.
The initiative is working to secure a clearer and more consistent place for neurodiagnostic professionals within the Texas healthcare system through a responsible path that preserves physician oversight, strengthens workforce stability, aligns neurodiagnostics with other recognized healthcare professions, and reinforces confidence in this work.
We are a Texas nonprofit initiative led by volunteers and leaders committed to the neurodiagnostic workforce. We respect the roles of professional societies, hospitals, physicians, educators, credentialing bodies, and industry partners, and we know this work cannot be done alone.
Real progress will require collaboration, expertise, support, and sustained engagement from people and organizations across Texas and beyond. We welcome collaboration and support from those who want to help strengthen neurodiagnostics in Texas and advance a path toward state recognition.
